The many styles and options of wood siding are what other competing materials such as vinyl, fiber cement, engineered wood and other synthetic materials generally imitate. However, wood has a natural beauty that is very difficult to beat, hence the need for continuous maintenance.
A few decades ago, wooden siding was the first option for residential siding in America, and historically it has dominated all the others. But not anymore.
According to U.S. census data of 2015, stucco and vinyl occupy the top spots, while wood has fallen to only 3% of all new construction with such cladding.
Wood still offers great versatility, solid insulation and an installation that does not necessarily require as much experience as other cladding options.
Costs
Labour costs for the installation of wood siding, in particular moulded and brick siding, are relatively low (compared to fibre cement siding). The employee can do the job as well as possible. As with all home improvement projects, a professional contractor will carry out the installation work more efficiently and provide a service guarantee.
Wooden siding tracks cost on average between $7.50 and $14.50 per square meter installed. The split wood must be at the top of this area, the edges and slats at the bottom, and the fascia siding is somewhere in the middle. There are many factors influencing the cost of wooden decking, which are discussed below.
A typical two bedroom house costs between $18,000 and $30,000 for wooden sidings installed by a professional contractor. This applies to all three materials, which explains the great diversity of the range. Splitting prices by type of style helps us to better understand the cost of the project.

We will split it into three hypothetical projects based on the main styles, with additional considerations typical of a residential paving project. Factors affecting total cost
The first thing we have to do is usually remove the old coating. Then, of course, when it is removed, it must be discarded. Although this adds a few thousand dollars to the total cost, a professional contractor can usually have a crew to handle it in one day, clean your yard and dispose of the materials.
The next factor is the type of wood. These factors, as well as the type and quality of wood, all influence the costs. Pine, oak, cedar and mahogany are popular types of wood used for residential areas.
The contractor will probably recommend a quality wood based on style, but you can choose any grain and quality you are willing to pay for. The quality of the wood depends on whether or not there are stains or knots on the surface. Pure species are considered to be of superior quality, while some owners prefer the more authentic appearance of knotty wood.
Style sub-options appear in the bevel and split logs, where you can choose from many considerations on how to cut the boards or logs. If split logs are used, it may be possible to cut the material.
With the current siding it is purely stylistic, but it mimics the way log cabins were built in the past, where you could see the mortar between each log cabin. As a rule, an acrylic mixture is used. This gives the building envelope a little more protection against water and wind, but costs more for installation and routine maintenance.
The fight on the board is quite simple, but it’s usually a good thing. This style has a traditional look and can look fantastic with a standing seam roof.

Building materials and building permits are not optional and should be considered as part of the total cost of the works. Sometimes contractors include these figures in the cost of the coating and do not emphasize them as separate items.
If a stain or paint is desired, the siding contractor can do so or even offer it, as is probably the case with split timber. This can be quite expensive, but it certainly protects the wood and preserves it for a long time.
Initially, coatings can last 15 years or more. A new coating every 7 to 12 years extends the life of your wooden siding to 50 years.
Justifying the work is the last essential factor. With wood covering, prices are usually low and competitive, because people understand that wood covering is the kind of work you do with do-it-yourself or that you hire an uncertified worker to do the work.
We may be biased, but we suggest you get at least three to seven quotes from local contractors and see what their work offers you before considering a less experienced installer.

Good: Wooden siding is a fairly durable cladding material for residential buildings. Especially with the necessary care. The R-value is very good compared to many wood competitors, which means better insulation for the envelope of your house. And because wood is easier to install than most, if not all, other materials, costs can be reduced.
Bath: A well-known disadvantage of wood is the need for constant maintenance. Without this care, wood can last 30 years or less before it is weathered, or worse, when animals begin to eat it. A better quality wood is an advantage, but it also increases costs. Wood is also highly flammable, although it can be treated with flame retardants to minimise what would otherwise be flammable.
Oh, so beautiful: Beauty is what makes wood a viable choice. Other materials may come close to the appearance of wood, but no material is exactly right, even untreated wood. A wooden cladding with a fresh coat of clear varnish is a work of art or craftsmanship.
