IKEA vs Home Depot Kitchen Cabinets. Which Brand is Better?

IKEA vs Home Depot Kitchen Cabinets. Which Brand is Better?

When it comes to choosing cabinets, especially for a kitchen, whether it’s a new home or a renovation project, the choice often falls on IKEA and The Home Depot.

Comparison of Ikea cabinets and house cupboards.

As an Amazon Assistant, I earn my money through qualifying purchases.

You need to think and research what works best for you, because cupboards are one of the biggest expenses in the house.

The fact is that even within these two do-it-yourself brands there is a lot of choice and that doesn’t make life any easier.

But we’ll try to make it worth it. From enclosures to custom options, there is much to see. So we looked at the decisive factors and split them up for you.

Price

Since this is the most important factor, we decided to start with the costs. The Home Depot has Hampton Bay in stock, priced like IKEA cabinets. If you want to decorate a small room, you can choose high-end models from IKEA.

According to the experts at The Home Depot, what you find in The Home Depot is likely to cost between $20,000 and $25,000, including installation (for an average home project).

At IKEA, however, it is between $10,000 and $15,000, excluding installation costs and flooring (again, on average).

At The Home Depot the price varies depending on whether you choose a ready-to-use (RTA) kit or a pre-assembled kit that saves you the hassle of the construction market.

For a wardrobe, expect to pay between $100 and $3,000 at The Home Depot. It is clear that custom-made cabinets are more expensive.

And at IKEA, the range is $75 to $1,600, with most options between $200 and $300.

Quality

So that’s quality. It depends on the house you run. If you want to carry out repairs every two years, you have two options.

You can get something expensive and rework the structure with every change. Or take something moderately expensive or cheap and do the whole thing again.

IKEA cabinets aren’t bad for busy kitchens, and they can deal with child harassment. Many customers who have chosen these cabinets are very satisfied.

The Home Depot cabinets, on the other hand, do not tolerate abuse. And if you try to fix it with little or no experience, you’ll find MDF splinters everywhere.

This is due to the fact that the pieces are sewn together. They’re not very nice either, which means you might have to work a little harder.

So if you’re on a tight budget, you can choose IKEA, which offers the same prices as Home Depot cabinets, but with much better quality.

Some of the cabinet options of The Home Depot are known to be less expensive, but not so well done. The relatively thin bottom of the cabinets is largely responsible for the sustainability problem.

On the other hand, IKEA makes thick cabinets that also have extra functions. They are scratch resistant and easy to clean. Two things you shouldn’t miss when choosing a wardrobe. They also have soft, closed loops that prevent them from breaking.

The only drawback for IKEA, if there is one, is that you have to install them yourself or hire a professional installer.

Diversity

Because IKEA is the king of kits, they have a lot of options for the layout of the cabinets. For kitchens it has a summary list in the SECTION section.

If the range is impressive, it is clear that they are selling their branded products. It’s worth thinking about. But some customers like the limited possibilities, so they can choose easily.

You’ll find the right drawer and cupboard parts so you don’t have to worry about choosing each part.

What else? They have tried to expand their collection, which has led to the inclusion of facades made partly of recycled bottles.

On the other hand, The Home Depot expects medium quality cabinets to be mass produced. When buying storage cupboards, you will find low cabinets with drawers or shelves and wall cabinets with a pantry and shelves.

If you want partially custom options, you pay more. On the other hand, they offer many different brands, so you might find exactly what you are looking for. If you have the time and patience, you can pull out an old yellow legal path and make a list of the pros and cons of each brand.

If you have a strangely shaped space or if you want the space to be user-friendly, a little customization can play a big role, despite the higher price. So you have a choice.

Differences

The reason closet shopping for these two companies is that they understand the needs of their customers like no other company.

With IKEA you can personalise your room. Because they are masters of the trade, you don’t have to worry about cabinet components during assembly. If you decide to ask for help, it will also be very affordable.

Plus, you don’t have to compromise on aesthetics. And if you look, say. If, for example, you choose a ready-made kitchen, you don’t really have to choose every element. Just take it all out and put it together.

The Home Depot is a little different. You can ask them to build a personalised space for you and let them know your choice of material, style and colour. They use their own equipment to install and assemble the cabinets for you.

In fact, they are the experts in the field. Make sure you know whether you want plywood or chipboard cabinets, unfinished or framed. You must also choose the type of cabinet or indicate in advance whether you want to combine two models. Accessories such as doors and panels are also available.

Agreements

These two settings are similar in many respects. The most important thing is their approach to building a kitchen you like. Whether you choose your own materials or have them made for you, both IKEA and The Home Depot offer customisation options.

The quality of practices varies, but both institutions offer an enviable choice. Their basic prices are also quite similar, except for a few adjustments that you can determine yourself.

What’s more, IKEA and The Home Depot are great brands, so you benefit from the size and support they offer their customers.

Net revenue

Before opening the websites of one of these shops, you should be clear about your own wishes, from the style of decoration to the colours and textures and the materials you want to use.
