However, you need to be a little more careful with this product, as it can completely discolor the carpet if it contains too much hydrogen peroxide or if the carpet doesn’t tolerate it.
If the situation gets worse and none of these ingredients are available, go to the store and buy a special wine stain remover and follow the same steps to remove the stain from your carpet.
Cleaning a red wine stain on a sofa
For wine stains on the sofa, the same method as described above applies.
- Crevice of a possibly stationary liquid
- Choose a cleaning mixture (baking soda, dish soap and vinegar, or dish soap and hydrogen peroxide).
- Let the mixture sit on the stain for about 20 minutes.
- Dab with a white cloth
- Repeat the procedure until the stain has disappeared.
All that matters is that the sofas have a lot more color in their fabric to begin with.
When using the hydrogen peroxide mixture, make sure that the hydrogen peroxide does not leave bleached stains on the sofa.
Wine stain on wooden table
If you switch to a different material, the wood is a bit more difficult to remove. One method is to sprinkle salt on a stained wine table and let it stand for about 15 minutes.
Next, mix one part baking soda and two parts grated pumice, and add one cup of lemon oil. Apply this mixture to the stain and let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes. Wipe it off and repeat the process until the stain is gone.
If that doesn’t work for you or you don’t have the ingredients, there is another way to preserve them! Soak a white cloth in white vinegar and place it on the stain.
You can gently massage the stain to reduce the color, otherwise repeat the process until the stain is gone.
If all these attempts fail, there is always the option of finishing the wood. In post-processing, pay particular attention to the stained area so that no ghost rings are visible.
