Nothing says summer, relaxation, and style like loungers by the pool. While you are shopping for loungers, consider the size of the area around your pool. How big or small is it? Make sure you are buying loungers that are not too big or the space will look crammed and not relaxed. Also consider more neutral colors like brown, white, or green for all your pool-side seating. Never go with black furniture because it will be simply too hot!

3. A Makeshift Pool House

If you’ve always wanted a pool house, or at least pool storage, without the huge price tag, this is the trick for you. Instead of building a pool house, you can simply get a storage shed. Get one in a size that best suits your space. Then set to work making the shed your own. 

Add shelving or cabinets to hold pool cleaning equipment and chemicals. You can even get a locking cabinet to keep children away from the chemicals if you want. Add in large plastic bins for easy access to pool toys. This will also help you keep everything more organized and is much easier for kids to utilize as well. In addition, consider adding hooks to the walls for clean towels, and maybe even think about adding a small bin for sunscreen, aloe, and chapsticks. Also, keep in mind that sheds aren’t temperature controlled. So, items like these might need to be taken in at the end of the day so they do not get ruined. You could also hang up a few hats and visors and have a small basket of sunglasses. No matter how you decide to organize your shed, it’s sure to be a great addition to your pool area!

4. Towel Rack

Another great thing to add poolside is a towel rack. If you’ve ever spent long summer days in the pool, you know how wet towels get. You can sling them over the backs of chairs or railings to dry, but this isn’t always a perfect solution. You might end up on top of a wet towel or they could blow away easily. Let’s face it, neither of these are great options. 

So, consider purchasing a towel rack. The towel rack can sit next to your pool and offer quicker drying for all of your pool towels. It also creates a centralized place for people to find towels when they need them. For an added touch, you could also have a pool hamper to carry in soiled towels at the end of the day as well. It’s not necessary, but it can help you remember to launder the towels and make it much easier to collect and carry towels to the laundry room at the end of the day.

5. Good Lighting

While some pools have lighting, pop-up pools sometimes don’t. One of the best times to use a pool is in the evenings. However, if you don’t have any lighting around your pool, it won’t be as comfortable or easy to swim. Also, if you want to have pool parties, you will need the area lit at night so people can see and interact. 

If you would prefer not to use string lights you can always put in some landscape lighting or have an electrician add lighting around the outside of your home that’s closer to the pool.

So, consider getting some string lights to put around the area. Be careful not to put them too close to the pool as you do not want there to be any danger associated with having them by the pool. However, hanging them around the area can really brighten your pool deck. Make sure that you have a place to plug them in or better yet, get solar-powered string lights.

Bonus tip: Make sure that your pool deck is safe for children. It’s important to keep children’s safety in mind with any kind of pool. So, think about taking precautions like adding in fencing around the pool. It will make your pool much safer and might save a life.
