The different types of marble come in different colours and textures. This is a natural phenomenon caused by the presence of compacted rocks in the earth’s interior.
No two plates of these beautiful materials look alike and that is why they are so popular. If you want something for your kitchen counter or floor, here is an overview of most of the available types, although there are always more subtypes.
Types of white marble
This is a classic option that has a special value because it looks so majestic and clean. But because of the white colour, its imperfections are very noticeable.
Although sometimes it’s the mistakes that make the beauty, isn’t it? For example, there are craters on the moon, but we don’t complain. Well, let’s see.
Carrara Marble
Officially it is called Blanco Carrara and is usually available in a white-grey color. It is a popular choice for fireplaces, bathroom and kitchen walls.
Its veins are fine and feathery, which makes it unique. It is one of the most popular marble types for countertops, especially in modern kitchens. It bears the name of a place in Italy in the Alpine region and is considered a symbol of quality and distinction.
Calacatta Marble
This is another type of marble that is very popular on the market. You can tell by the cracks and gray veins that make each plate unique. It is the highest quality stone and is much rarer than Carrara marble.
Enigmatic white marble
This marble is bright and cream-coloured, making it a good choice for those who want a light-coloured stone to brighten up a particular space. The veins of the mysterious white marble are not as contrasting as those of other white marbles and have a soft finish.
It is mainly crystalline white marble that gives any room a very elegant appearance. Mysterious white marble is often preferred for worktops and bathroom floors.
Bianco Lasa
This beautiful marble is discreet and quiet. It consists mainly of a grey base, but has subtle dark grey veins and particles all over its surface. While the capillaries define the type, the subtypes are defined by different shades of grey in the base color.

Himalayan white marble

Arabescato Breccia
This variety of calcite marble has a white and off-white base. The veins are dark grey in colour and sometimes change into a brown zone. It is a beautiful fracture morphology where bubbles and cells can appear on the surface.
White Macael
The grain of Macael Blanco marble is very coarse with very fine veins (if you can even call them that) that look more like a glaze that alternates between white and gray. It is composed of calcite, quartz and muscovite, as well as other fine minerals.
Beige marbles
If the white marble is too light for you, beige might suit you. It not only lets in light, but also adds warmth to your immediate surroundings.

Beige moscato

But it’s the veins running through it that stand out. They are thick, there are many, and their colours vary from amber to grey, from mole to mole, and every shade in between. It looks like a cracked and highly polished concrete surface.
Fior di Bosco
This marble has a dark grey background that can be described as a plume of smoke passing through it. The veins are usually white, but there are also parts of clay or amber.
Types of yellow marble
