Materials and tools required

  • Hammer
  • Funnel
  • Construction knife, construction bag knife or carpet knife
  • Scissors (optional)
  • Heavy wire brush (optional)
  • Tape measure
  • #3 or 4 finishing nails
  • #6. Finishing nails
  • Welding
  • High quality glue (transparent)
  • Casting length of the stones
  • Staircase
  • Paint for outdoor applications
  • Brush

How to remove old cast stones

  1. Use a knife or chisel to scrape old sealant off the edges of windows or doors. A knife may be more effective, but a chisel is less likely to scratch or damage the mould.
  2. If the old grout is difficult to remove, refill with a putty knife or paint spatula.
  3. Carefully remove the nails from the studs with the claw of a hammer.
  4. Place the crowbar flush with the grid between the grid and the stone form. Remove the old brick mold.
  5. Clean the old putty.
  6. Remove the drip tray from the top edge of the door (if present).

The following video shows you how to remove a rotten door frame:

How to install the brick in Windows

Taking action

  1. Take the first measurement from the top left corner of the frame to the bottom left corner of the frame. Hold the tape measure flush with the frame and measure from the edge of the frame. This is the upper edge of the base plate. Record this action.
  2. Repeat on the right side of each frame and note the measurement.
  3. Take the third measurement from the top left corner of the frame to the top right corner of the frame. Hold the tape measure flat against the frame and read the measurement at the point directly above the inner edge of the frame. Take the measurement.
  4. Measure the width of the cast brick. The width of formed stones generally varies from 1 5/32 inches to 5 inches. Record this action.
  5. Determine the linear length of the brickwork needed for your window. To calculate the required cable length some simple calculations can be made:

A = (window height + window width) x 2

B = width of the cast brick x 5

C = A + B

D = C / 12

For example: The window is 30 inches high and 40 inches wide. Their brick shape is 2 inches wide.

(30 + 40) x 2 = 140 inches.

2 x 5 = 10 inches

140 + 10 = 150

This means that 150 centimetres of brick is needed to cut the window properly. To simplify the process of ordering and buying brick moulded parts, we can divide 150 inches by 12 to convert 150 inches into feet. You need 12.5 meters of cast brick.

Installation

  1. Shorten the piece of brick to the desired length and make sure that the angle is cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
  2. Fix the brick profile around the window with nails and a hammer. Spread the nails two meters apart around the window.
  3. Apply a small bead of hemp and distribute it evenly. Let it dry.
  4. Paint as needed.

To install the brick template around the door

Taking action

  1. Take your measurements for the main envelope. Measure from the inside of the doorframe top right to the inside of the doorframe top left and make sure that the measuring tape lies flush with the doorframe. Record this action.
  2. Take your measurements for a correct housing. Measure from the top right-hand side of the main body to the bottom of the right-hand side of the doorframe, making sure the tape measure is flush with the doorframe. If the room is carpeted, subtract half a centimetre from your measurement. Take the measurement.
  3. Repeat step 2 for the left-hand housing, measuring from the top left-hand side of the main housing to the bottom of the left-hand side of the door frame. Take the measurement.
  4. Measure the width of the cast brick. The width of formed stones generally varies from 1 5/32 inches to 5 inches. Record this action.
  5. Determine the required linear length of the brick for your door. To calculate the required cable length some simple calculations can be made:

A = width of the cast brick x 2

B = A + size of the main envelope

C = B + right side of the shell + left side of the shell

D = C / 12

Example = Your door is 90 high and 40 wide. Their brick shape is 2 inches wide.

2 x 2 = 4 inches

4 + 40 = 44 inches

44 + 90 + 90 = 224 inches

224 / 12 = 18.7 feet

This means that 18.7 feet of brickwork is needed to finish the door properly.

Installation

  1. Shorten the piece of brick to the desired length and make sure that the angle is cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
  2. Attach the masonry strips around the door with nails and a hammer, starting from the head of the shell. Start in the middle of the head shell and nail the brick casting in place.
  3. Use four size 3 or 4 nails along the inner edge to attach the headbox to the jamb.
  4. Use three or four size 6 nails on the outer edge to attach the backbox to the stud.
  5. Apply a small amount of adhesive to the end of the corner cut in the side housing. Align this with the slanted cut of the end of the main body. Hold on. Hold on.
  6. Attach the frame to the door post every 15-16 cm with size 3 or 4 nails.
  7. Use 6 nails to attach the speaker to the wall.
  8. Use a #3 finishing nail through the head and side cover to secure the corner.
  9. Apply a small bead of hemp and distribute it evenly. Let it dry.
  10. Paint as needed.
