10 Tips To Improve Your Kitchen

10 Tips To Improve Your Kitchen

Your kitchen has been statistically proven to be one of the essential rooms in your house. After all, it’s where you’ll be preparing your meals (assuming you’re making the right choice and doing lots of home cooking, that is), and it could also be where you eat them. With that said, many people neglect their kitchens and don’t think about how to properly integrate them into their homes, which is a shame. So here are 10 of our best tips to help you improve your kitchen.

1.Obey The Triangle Rule

The triangle rule is one of the most fundamental rules in kitchen design. It states that your sink, fridge, and oven should be loosely organized into a triangle and that they should be within a small distance of one another for easy access. If you want to maximize your kitchen’s potential, you should obey the triangle rule, especially if you’re an interior design beginner. Then, you can start breaking the rules as you get more experienced.

2. Don’t Neglect Fittings

Your kitchen’s fittings are almost as necessary as the appliances themselves, so it’s essential not to neglect them. Of course, we’re talking about things like cupboard doors, drawers, and frontages; they can come together to create a unified aesthetic and make your kitchen look great, or they can be the reason the whole ensemble doesn’t work. It’s a good idea to look into replacement kitchen doors to begin with, because basic doors can often be why the kitchen looks drab or underwhelming.

3.Get Good Appliances

It’s not worth skimping on the cost of your kitchen appliances. While a cheaper oven, microwave, or kettle might look like a good idea at first, eventually you’re going to start feeling the sting when those appliances fail after a short period of time.

It’s better to splash a little more on your appliances to make sure that they last for longer. You’ll also likely get appliances with more and better features if you’re willing to spend just a little more, so if you have the money, don’t be afraid to spend it.

4,Spend Money on High-quality Equipment

As well as your appliances, your kitchen equipment should be top-notch. That means you shouldn’t be spending money on cheap knives, cutlery, or crockery, and you should make sure that your cooking pots and pans are high-quality as well. Again, you won’t regret it if you spend a little more initially, because it’ll stop you from spending much more replacing your equipment each time it breaks or ceases to work. Your kitchen is too important to neglect!

5.Think About New Flooring

“The floor in your kitchen is important for many more reasons than simple comfort; with the wrong flooring, for example, you may find that food stains or contaminates your kitchen more often, potentially leading to problems in terms of health.”

Many kitchens still use old-school flooring materials like linoleum. If this doesn’t appeal to you, then you may want to consider switching out your flooring for a more modern or classic alternative like wood or stone. 6.Add a Seating Area

If you don’t already eat your meals in your kitchen, then you may want to consider adding a seating area. Keeping your “food zone” unified means that you’ll always associate your kitchen with eating, and you might not be quite as tempted to try and multitask while you eat, leading to healthier and more mindful eating habits. You can also use your kitchen seating area as a place to sit and unwind from the pressures of daily life.

7.Decorate

Many people overlook the kitchen when it comes to decoration, but there’s really no reason your kitchen needs to be drab or bland. You can add things like art, photography, and other decorations to your kitchen to make it more exciting.

After all, if you’re going to be spending an extended amount of time in this space, it makes sense to make it your own, right? For an added bonus, try installing some photos of your favourite food to really make your mouth water while you’re cooking.

8.Add a Kitchen Island

A kitchen island can really bring some excitement and modernity to a previously bland space. It’s just a small table-style arrangement in the middle of your kitchen, but if you’ve got the space for it, then it can really open up a lot of possibilities.

“A kitchen island can really bring some excitement and modernity to a previously bland space.”

You could, for example, use a kitchen island as a dining space, or you could repurpose it for extra worktop room if you need somewhere else to prepare elements of a meal. Whatever you do with it, a kitchen island is a great idea for improving your kitchen.

9.Repaint Your Kitchen

Just like the rest of your home, your kitchen is an integral part of your overall aesthetic and colour scheme. That’s why you should make sure to try and repaint your kitchen on a regular basis. Think carefully about what kind of colour you want and what will complement the rest of the house, but also, think about what colour you want to see while you’re preparing food. Don’t pick something too garish or too bright; your kitchen should be an exciting space, but it should be calming, too.

10.Try More Cooking Ideas

While this doesn’t count as a kitchen improvement per se, trying out more cooking ideas could lead to buying more weird and wonderful implements, which will in turn boost your creativity in the future. Try looking for some different recipe options and giving them a try in the kitchen. Don’t be too disheartened if it doesn’t work out initially; keep trying, and eventually, you’ll expand your repertoire, thereby making your kitchen organically feel like a nicer place to spend time in.
